Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out hom much parent’s motivation and children’s interest in continuing their education to college in Hamlet 04 West Pejaya Village, Martapura District, East OKU Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The technique of collecting samples is by non-probability used is purposive sampling. The study used data collection techniques, namely observation, questionnaires and documentation. Data collection techniques by giving questionnaires to parents and children. The analysis technique used is to pour the frequency into percentage. The results of this study indicate that the motivation of parents to continue their education to tertiary institutions is in the very good category 85,27%. Meanehile, children’s interest in continuing their education to tertiary institution was categorized as good pretty at 52,18%.

The limitation in this study is the number of respondents 44 people, of course it is still not enough to describe the real situation the information provided by respondents through questionnaires sometimes does not show the true opinion of respondents.

From the results of this study, it is hoped that it can provide input to parents to support and continues to support and continue to provide motivation and direction according to children’s interes. To the children, it is hoped that they will continue to explore their potential and seek new knowledge in order to become independent and intelligent human beings.
