Abstract

This study aims to develop discovery learning-based physics handouts on thermodynamics material for class XI SMA/MA, determine the feasibility of handouts and student responses to discovery learning-based physics handouts on thermodynamics material for class XI SMA/MA. The research method used is Research and Development Research and Development (R&D) which has been modified into 9 steps, namely, potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revisions, product trials, product revisions, usage trials and product revisions. . The trial sample for the handout product was 24 students of class XI IPA at MA Nurul Huda Sukaraja. The results of the research in the feasibility test show that the validity value obtained from media and material experts is 3.99 with a decent category. The results of student responses to handouts in product trials obtained an average of 4.16, while the results of student responses to handouts in use trials obtained an average of 3.75 with good criteria and had a good level of effectiveness. Thus, the handout product based on discovery learning on thermodynamic material is feasible and effective to be used as physics teaching material in SMA/MA.
