Abstract
Ice breaking is one of the learning techniques can increase creativity and train students’ concentration. This study aims to determine effect giving ice breaking on thematic learning interest of fifth grade students SD Negeri 1 Srikaton, knowing thematic learning interest of students in experimental class and control class. This research is true experimental design research that involves two classes, namely the experimental class and control class. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis tehniques used was the independent sample t-test, simple linear regression test that had previously been tested for normality and homogeneity tests. From the result of the study, it was obtained that the average interest learning in class VA was 50.0 and average interest learning in class VB was 34.5. The average value of ice breaking response in class VA is 52.3 and the average value of ice breaking in class VB is 34.7. The result of a simple linear regression test resulted in Fcount of 30.393 with significance level of 0,000< 0,05 then H0 was rejected, meaning significant (significant), meaning that there was an effect of giving ice breaking to the thematic learning interest of fifth grade elementary school students Srikaton.
